Rides

SUNDAY RIDES Tail End Charlie this week - TBD on the day

Riding Groups

Group 1 - Wise Owls

They know that a straight line is the shortest distance to the coffee shop

Group 2 - Komodo Dragons

Surprisingly quick, sharp tongued assassins who strike early then wait for you to fade before moving in for the kill

Group 3 - Silver Foxes

Well rounded individuals, born to ride semi-hard

Group 4 - Ferrets

Lithe, athletic, difficult to catch and harder to like

Our Ride Ethos - We're all about safety, fun, improving fitness and comradeship. Group riding is about learning/experiencing riding with other cyclists around you.

If you are looking for ultra competitive riding and racing, there are probably other groups that would better suit your needs, but please get in touch to discuss what you're after. During the last third of the ride, some riders may wish to increase tempo, but no-one will be left to ride home alone (unless they are winning!!).

Wednesday Rides

MATAMATA RECREATIONAL PEDDLERS' WEDNESDAY MORNING RIDES - START TIME 9AM
If you're looking for social riding, here's the group for you! Matamata Recreational Peddlers have weekly rides on Wednesday mornings leaving from the Matamata Primary School flagpole on Broadway at 09:00am. Most of the riders have e-bikes and the focus is on getting out and being active, rather than covering distances. The ride route and groups will be determined on the day. For more details email Neal Butt nealbitunes@gmail.com

PEDDLERS' WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON ROAD RIDE - START TIME NOW 5:30PM
With the days now saved, the Wednesday evening rides leave from Matamata Primary School flagpole on Broadway at 5:30pm. The ride route and groups will be determined on the day. You must have a rear light as a minimum but we strongly advise that you have both front & rear. We'll be back in town before it gets too dark.

Sunday Rides

PEDDLERS' SUNDAY ROAD RIDE - START TIME NOW 09:00AM
The Sunday morning rides leave from Matamata Primary School flagpole on Broadway at 09:00am. Please be there at least 5 minutes before the ride is due to start for a quick ride briefing prior to departure. Please refer to the Location Maps page for the start location.

We've All Gone Completely Loopy
Still road works out Waharoa way this week, so we've pulled an old favourite from the archives. The description won't make much sense since they made me change the names of the groups, but I checked, and found that I just don't care. I prefer a good pun to an understandable description. Basically just choose a distance and shake your Paratushy out into the hills. The Ones do the Paratu loop twice. I'm not sure if that qualifies as the Paratutu Loop, but anyway it's Paratu too for the Twos, once (or, as the kids these days would say - it's Para2 2 4 da 2z, x1). The Threes and Fours can just sit back at the top of their Henry Watson Loop and watch the Ones and Twos circling the drain. We'll then all meet at RH to discuss why cyclists travel anticlockwise in the Southern Hemisphere and what exactly is blocking Theo's plug-hole
